    This paper introduces the partial results of research, showing possibilities of acous-tic emission use to the diagnosis of the fuel injection systems of marine diesel engines. By means of a suitable signal process we can get to the source of acoustic emission signals dependent on varying kinds of faults in the injection system

    In the article an attempt was made to use some time-frequency methods for the analysis of acoustic emission signals. Concerning the field of interests measurements were taken of some ship machinery and equipment. Signals coming from the fuel injec-tion systems of ship diesel engines, roll bearings and gear were analyzed. They were pre-selected in regard to their usefulness for diagnostic purposes.

    The presented research results specify the frequencies of an acoustic emission (AE) signal connected with phenomena occurring in the injection system of a diesel engine. From the time-frequency analysis the spectrum density was determined for a phenomenon or changes caused by the wear or damage of a selected injector component

    The article presents selected technical issues relating to drilling performed by a drillship, one type of drilling rigs. Basic problems encountered in the main function of such rigs − drilling a well − are failures of mud pumps. The authors investigate these pumps in operational conditions, aiming at development of a system for monitoring the technical condition of these pumps. Work on a diagnostic system is in progress that will permit to predict the condition of mud pump valves well in advance.

    This article draws attention to the problems of maintaining fuel injection pumps of marine diesel engines in the conditions of use of residual fuels whose quality is steadily deteriorating, and also burned under engine’s reduced load and in situations where the international rules require a temporary change over into distillate fuels. The analysis of tribological processes occurring in hydraulic precision pairs of fuel injection pump such as barrel-plunger was presented and the types of occurring wears were discussed based on author’s own operational experience. There was pointed out the need for additional methods of verification / evaluation of technical condition using of technical diagnostic methods.

    This study is aimed at the determination of the significance of faults diagnosed in refrigerating plant components of fishing vessels. The problem is described by the Pareto-Lorenz analysis. The field work covers vessels of the Polish fishing fleet. Ships under examination are typical of the Polish fishing vessels operating at sea. The research has been based on data gathered in 2007–2011, consisting of 235 faults, detected and estimated for refrigerating systems of 25 small vessels of the Polish fishing fleet. Taking the refrigerant as a criterion of division, we have analyzed two types of vessels

    This article discusses possible applications of correlation calculus as a universal tool enabling verification of a procedure for correct selection of elastic support system. Such system is used in measurements values of roundness deviations of main crankshaft bearing journals and assessment of shape correctness of measured roundness profiles. These profiles can be mathematically represented as a sum of terms of a Fourier trigonometric series

    It is possible to apply an Acoustic Emission (AE) signal for diagnosing the fuel injection system of a marine diesel engine. By the signal decomposition using the wave-let method we can determine significant parameters of injection and some failures of the injection system. For the estimation of operation of selected elements the author propos-es to create a coefficient being a signal measure suitable for quick diagnosis of a failure.

    The paper presents the results of acoustic emission signals application for diagnos-ing defects detecting signal sources in the fuel injection system of marine diesel engines. Changes of acoustic emission signals are sensitive to the working of the injection pump and the condition of injectors. The emitted signals are dependent on their technical con-dition.

    The paper covers the theoretical background and tests of two asynchronous squirrel cage generators connected to voltage source inverters working in parallel. Inverters were connected in parallel by their intermediate direct current circuits by means of auctioneering diodes, and then to a DC power network. The real-time control algorithm of digital signal processor DSP and field-programmable gate array FPGA was used to achieve proper excitation of two different power machines, and to maintain high enough levels of direct current link voltage. Windings of both generators are fed by use of so-called machine side inverters. The asynchronous generator is a voltage source inverter controlled by a field-oriented control algorithm based on the current machine model. To prove robustness of the chosen algorithm, different types of load were applied while generators and inverters worked in parallel.

    This article examines the differences in the lifetime of mud pumps, which are part of the equipment on (ultra) deep-water drillships, depending on the strategy of maintenance. The authors conducted research on mud pumps to create an efficient diagnostic tool to help pumps operators on daily maintenance routines. We have created drilling process diagrams, one pertaining to the operation of mud pumps for which maintenance is carried out without technical supervision, the other including diagnostic maintenance. The diagrams show differences pump failure frequency.

    Zaprezentowano wyniki badań sygnałów emisji akustycznej, uzyskane podczas to-Kenia gniazd zaworowych głowicy silnika okrętowego. W procesie naprawy gniazd zastosowano przenośną tokarkę firmy Chris Marinę typu VSL.
