    The global policy of protection environment enforces much more stringent regulations to reduce pollutants from exhaust gases. These requirements are being implemented gradually from 2010 and will have full force in 2015 and 2016.     The paper presents the LNG-related supply chain in the South Baltic Sea Region which was specified as a result of the MarTech LNG Project. First part of the paper presents specification of technologies and technical solutions. Then it turns to the LNG-related stakeholders, i.e. all actors involved into LNG supply, delivery as well as end-user technologies. Aspects of LNG-related infrastructure accomplish the presentation of the SBSR supply chains. The paper is concluded by structural delineation of the supply chains in the SBSR

    The vessel’s position in different electronic chart displays is represented by different shapes. That shape in a pilot navigation system should correspond to the real horizontal outline of the vessel. This is very important during maneuvering in restricted waters, because the vessel operator assesses its safety on the basis of distances between the shape and obstructions. The paper presents a method of modeling vessel’s shape in a portable pilot navigation system.

    The vessel’s position and its heading are necessary to display its shape on an electronic chart. This paper describes an experimenal determination of heading accuracy. There are two types of pilot navigation systems: stationary and portable, and they may use various sources of heading data. Particularly a gyrocompass and GPS compass were tested and verified by the heading determined by two RTK receivers.

    There were a number of circumstances which became the basis for the MarTech liquefied natural gas (LNG) project: the forthcoming regulations reducing permitted sulphur content of a ship’s fuel, and aspirations of Poland and Lithuania to diversify sources of natural gas import by building LNG import terminals. The project was launched in 2012 and lasted more than three years until April 2015. It concerned the uses of LNG in the South Baltic Sea region and was realized by eight partners from five countries surrounding this area. The main aims were promotion of LNG as a fuel and dissemination of knowledge and experiences related to LNG. They were achieved by organizing training courses, seminars and meetings between stakeholders, research institutions and policy makers. This paper is an informal report of activities within the MarTech LNG project.
