    Przedstawiono ideę tworzenia interaktywnych struktur nawigacyjnych przez nawigatora w trakcie podróży morskiej W procesie obliczeń zastosowano zasady wyrówna-n,a sekwencyjnego oraz estymację odporną na błędy grube. Założenia teoretyczne weryfikowano na symulowanym przykładzie nawigacyjnym.

    The modern simulation software includes an impact of forces acting on the ship hull. One of the mostsignificant forces is sea waves acting. The mathematical model allows simulation of ship motions in irregularsea wave area, both – at deep and shallow waters. The wave surface model enables simulation of the waveelevation in compliance with wave spectrum occurring in various conditions. The paper presents generaldescription of the sea wave model used in maritime simulators. An example of such simulators is used at the laboratory of the Naval University of Gdynia, where it is operated basing on NT-Pro 5000 software by Transas Marine. The latest version of simulation software gives a possibility to select the wave spectrum. Selection of the waving type, depending on sea area location, makes the ship movement more reliable. This is an important element in testing the ships behavior process

    In the sea areas with heavy traffic, there is a great danger of collision or grounding. In order to improvemaritime safety at the gulf of Gdańsk in the middle of 90s, a vessel traffic services was installed. The VTSsystem operators can provide navigational assistance, if the parameters of the ships movement endanger thesafety of navigation. For proper functioning of the system there is a network of coastal radars stations whosesignal is used to create a radar picture of the navigational situation. In the vts determination of the ship position based on radar observations may lead to large errors. The IMO organization recommends to reject and repeat measurements containing large errors. For a moving ship perform a re-measurement in the same position is not possible. This paper presents possibility of compensation the coordinates of the vessel position based on radar observations using the of M-estimation methods

    Conception of the radar navigation process automation is presented in this paper. In navigation, using the radar presentation is very common. Designing and working out still new navigation systems based mainly on modern radars is the result of the search for precise, automatic and independent systems which allow us to lead and manoeuvre in the vicinity of constant and moving navigational dangers. The article presents the initial researches results obtained on that field and focuses on the following problems: – extraction of the radar image characteristic points, – determination of the position of characteristic points and of the own position with the use of the methods of comparing navigation, – automation of the radar image characteristic points identification, – improvement of the accuracy while determining one’s own position and the position of the characteristic points based on the elements of the compensation calculation

    In this paper, an attempt has been made to present National Maritime Safety and Security Systems. Such systems have been established as a result of close cooperation of national maritime services and ships themselves. Such systems operate in national maritime areas of particular states, regardless of EU membership. The history of the development of above mentioned systems is much longer than the history of the International Maritime Safety and Security System. However, the organizational and functional structure of these systems has been scarcely presented in the shipping literature . Therefore, the main objective of this paper is to bring these issues closer to the public attention

    In order to maintain a high level of security in areas where vessel traffic services operate, there is a great use of industrial cameras, which transmit information to the VTS controllers. Two very important elements of the video image transmission are speed and confidentiality of the transmitted data. Currently, one of the major problems in front of such systems is to choose an appropriate method for safe image transmission that meets the requirements of speed and confidentiality. There is the possibility of using the tools of computer science known as fingerprints. There are two ways to protect multimedia copyright. First way is to encrypt the data. Encryption provides that only privileged receivers with correct decryption keys will be able to decrypt information. Unfortunately, encryption isn’t sufficient protection, because after decryption, privileged user may easily violate copyright by sharing decrypted data with public. Second way is called a digital fingerprinting, which rely on embedding of some additional binary sequence into image. This sequence, called a fingerprint, is unique for each receiver and it’s unnoticeable for the human eye. With fingerprinting there is a possibility of further analysis of a intercepted copy which is suspected of being illegally shared. The paper presents the theoretical basis for the use of fingerprinting methods to protect the media sent in VTS systems, as well as a description of the most promising methods, in terms of safety and cost, called Joint Fingerprinting and Decryption methods. Approach proposed by the authors can enhance the security of the video image transmission in VTS systems

    From time immemorial, the main type of human activity at sea was transport of goods, then fishery, exploration of overseas territories, combating enemy’s vessels etc. The twentieth century visualized clearly also a military activity, whereas the latter part of the century also an industrial one on the continental shelves. Progress in these fields was the leading motive power considerably increasing human activity at sea beyond transport. The paper shows results of research work on designing of human activity at sea in the navigational simulators environment. These research works have been conducted in Institute of Navigation and Hydrography Polish Naval Academy.

    The paper describes a mean of using vessel’s manoeuvring parameters recorded in real conditions for the purpose of analysing the environment influence on ship’s behaviour. This information has also been used to conduct a comparative analysis of a real vessel and its simulation model in the data base of a navigationmanoeuvring simulator. The measurements were taken on an unrestricted sea area so as to eliminate the impact of developed sites on wind field. The research was conducted in the region of the North Sea and Baltic Sea.

    The paper presents an analysis of the selected robust adjustment methods applied in geodesy, proving thereby justifiability in choosing the applied attenuation function. With a use of the radar navigation methods, the said methods were applied in the process of determination of the observed vessel’s positions

    The paper presents joint operation of AIS-AtoN and radar. There was brought forward a fact of divergence of the information visualized in radar in cases when AIS receivers are produced by different manufacturers. It happens that the AtoN AIS information is not displayed by radar screen. It is also essential that not every ship is provided with AIS equipment

    This paper presents the authors’ reflections on using integral calculus when preparing the process of locating single ground-based chains of positioning systems in marine navigation. These reflections are purely theoretical and presented research results apply to a hypothetical navigation system that operates based on the ratio of distances, which is regarded as a navigation parameter.

    The article by Krzysztof Czaplewski, Sławomir Świerczyński and Piotr Zwolan entitled “Using elements of integral calculus in the process of optimizing the configuration of navigation positioning systems”3 published in the previous issue (45/2016) is an English version of the revised article by Krzysztof Czaplewski “Kryterium całkowe jako narzędzie matematyczne wspomagające proces optymalizacji wystawienia stacji systemu nawigacyjnego” 4, published in ZN AMW No. 3/2000. The authors would like to apologize for having forgotten to include this article in the reference section, which mistake was noticed after the article had been published. The authors' intention was not to conceal the previous publication, but to return to the previous studies on navigation processes optimization devised by one of the authors. The authors considered it desirable to get back to the previous results, as the problems of automatization of optimization processes are still valid in navigation and require further work. Furthermore, the subject of the article lies in the area of studies currently performed by the authors. In the context of increasingly frequent information on spoofing and jamming of satellite system signals, ground-based radio navigation systems begin to grow in significance again. For example, the contemporary mutation of the Loran system called eLoran seems to be at the time the best option supporting the operation of GNSS. The erection of new eLoran stations or other systems supporting the operation of GNSS has to be preceded by reliable optimization studies among others, and this is the reason why the authors are interested in this area of studies.
